About this work
This engraving shows an elderly bearded figure in a papal tiara and ornate cope embracing a nude, wounded Christ, with a dove representing the Holy Spirit descending above them within an arched frame. Latin verses are inscribed along the lower margin, and the upper corners bear the inscriptions of the artist and engraver with the date 1602.
