This engraving shows the betrayal of Christ and his arrest, with Judas at lower right leaning in toward a bearded figure while armed soldiers press forward holding swords, staves and torches. The dense crosshatched lines build the dramatic crowd and the figure sprawled on the ground in the foreground.
