About this work

This engraved print shows a richly detailed architectural street scene with classical columns and a crowd of ragged beggars, some leaning on crutches, gathered before a man in a hat gesturing toward them. A Latin inscription runs along the bottom margin, and the plate bears the inventor's name, Martinus Heemskerck, and the publisher's mark.
