About this work
This engraved print shows a massive tower of tilted, broken masonry collapsing above a city, with fragments tumbling across the scene. In the foreground, groups of figures in helmets and classical dress walk past a tall fluted column topped with a burning urn, while a spear-bearing figure stands beside a reclining lion.
