About this work
A pen and brown wash drawing shows a kneeling woman holding a cross and a kneeling figure holding a tablet, flanking a spiral column carved with scenes of the Passion. A skull, an hourglass and a distant city with domes and towers complete the scene, with a wreathed profile head crowning the column. The work is catalogued as a design for a title page by Maerten de Vos, dated 1598.
