About this work
A lithograph titled A Steeple-Chaser by Thomas Worth, dated 1880, shows a saddled horse leaping over a hedge and fence while its rider is thrown into the air, arms outstretched and hat flying. Distant riders race across the open course at the right, and a church spire rises beyond the hedgerow. The print bears the publisher's imprint of Currier & Ives.
