About this work
This chromolithographic print shows soldiers in dark Union and lighter Confederate uniforms clashing in close combat across a muddy, smoke-filled field, with raised rifles, sabres and the United States and Confederate battle flags visible. Several figures lie fallen in the foreground amid broken timber.
