About this work
This chromolithographic print depicts a dense wooded battlefield with Union soldiers in blue uniforms firing, advancing, and falling amid drifting gunsmoke. A cannon crew works a field gun at left, while a mounted officer directs movements on the right. The print is a facsimile by L. Prang & Co. of the work by Thure de Thulstrup, titled Battle of Shiloh.
