About this work
A multi-panel wood engraving from Harper's Weekly shows scenes of the army before Yorktown, Virginia, including rebel works, a reconnaissance, an assault, enemy works, sharpshooters firing from the grass, a steamship carrying troops, and a religious service in camp. The sketches are attributed in the printed caption to A. R. Waud and W. Homer.
