About this work
A wood engraving titled The Dance after the Husking, dated 1858 and attributed to Winslow Homer, shows couples dancing energetically across a plank floor in a rustic room. Onlookers line the walls, a fiddler and another musician play on a raised platform at right, and a fireplace with rifles mounted above it occupies the left side.
