About this work
A pencil sketch on pale paper shows a hilltop village of low buildings and a tower set on a slope, with two smaller studies of carved ornament below: acanthus scrollwork on the left and a winged motif on the right. Handwritten labels read "near Baalbec" and "Details Baalbec."
