About this work

An engraved print shows Adam digging the earth with a spade in the foreground while Eve sits with an infant beside a thatched hut and a small child tends a fire. A wide wooded landscape behind them includes an elephant, a camel, an ostrich, cattle, and other animals, with a winged figure in the sky. Latin verses are inscribed along the lower edge, and the sheet is attributed to Maerten de Vos as designer.
