About this work
This engraved print shows the Noli Me Tangere scene, with a barefoot Christ gesturing toward a kneeling woman who reaches toward him beside an open jar. Two other women stand nearby, one holding a vessel, and an angel appears in the tomb at left. A distant city, hills, and trees fill the landscape, and a Latin inscription from Matthew and John runs along the bottom. The print is attributed to Maerten de Vos, dated 1582.
