About this work
An engraved allegorical composition shows a chariot drawn by a sheep, a serpent and a bird, carrying a crowned woman with a chalice and an older robed figure holding a book. Below, kneeling figures gather at a domed rotunda while a crowd listens to a preacher in the distance. The Latin inscription at the top refers to the three orders of human society, ecclesiastical, royal and common.
