About this work

A hand-colored lithograph shows a jockey in a dark cap and blue jacket with a red sash riding a dark bay horse at full gallop. Spectators in period dress and top hats watch from the left, and a wooden viewing stand and red-and-white flag appear on the right. The printed inscription names Ferdinand Eder, 16 years old, and the 1827 peasant horse race on the Himmeringer Heide.
