About this work
An architectural capriccio shows playful nude putti beside a richly laden swag of grapes, peaches, figs, pomegranates and a halved watermelon. A macaw perches on a stone ledge, while a squirrel and two rabbits share the ground with the children. The classical colonnades and arches open onto a distant landscape with clipped topiary and figures on a terrace; the work is attributed to Peter Ykens.
