About this work
An architectural capriccio by Peter Ykens shows two putti embracing near a heavy swag of grapes, peaches, lemons, cherries and figs. A parrot perches on a ledge beside a large carved urn, while two guinea pigs rest on the ground in the foreground. Classical Corinthian columns, arches and a balustraded terrace recede into a cloudy sky.
