About this work

This black and white print shows a frontal face with a stern expression, its hair formed of writhing snakes that loop around the head and coil down beneath the chin. The stippled, engraved-style linework gives the serpents and hair a dense texture. The work is listed as a 1922 print by Elihu Vedder, titled Medusa-headed truth.
