About this work

An engraved street view shows the long colonnaded east front of the Bank of England on the right, with the tower of the Royal Exchange rising in the background above the rooftops. Well-dressed pedestrians in top hats and bonnets walk the cobbled lane while a horse-drawn coach passes, and the drawing is credited to Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, dated 1828.
