About this work

This engraved street view shows a row of classical stucco buildings with pilasters, arched windows and a pedimented corner on the west side of Regent Street. Horse-drawn carriages, a rider, and well-dressed pedestrians crowd the pavement beside shopfronts with painted signs for a wine merchant and a paperhanger and decorative painter. The print is attributed to Thomas Hosmer Shepherd and dated 1828.
