About this work
A lithograph by Louis-Léopold Boilly, dated 1824, shows a tightly grouped cluster of six women in early nineteenth-century bonnets and hats. Several raise their fingers or hands to their noses, and one holds an open snuff box, suggesting the act of taking snuff. The work is held in the Wikimedia Commons collection as a print.
