A samurai in layered lacquered armor grips a long spear while sword and helmet rest on a red cloth at the lower edge. Dark swirling smoke and bands of color fill the background, and a column of Japanese text runs down the upper right. This Japanese print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi is dated 1847 and belongs to the series Heroic stories of the Taiheiki.
