About this work

A pencil sketch on paper labeled Guarumo village shows a tropical riverbank lined with palm trees, a small thatched hut, and dense foliage, with a boat near the water's edge. Handwritten notes beneath describe the overgrown bank, the coconut palms, and a distant shore, and two small tree studies appear in the lower portion. The drawing is attributed to Frederic Edwin Church and dated 1853.
