About this work

A wood-engraved style print shows a procession moving through a narrow medieval street lined with timber-framed houses. A helmeted knight on a dark horse raises a sword while a child-like figure rides a white horse at the center, flanked by attendants, a trumpeter sounding a horn, and pikemen, with banners overhead and a figure watching from an upper window. This print by Charles Rochussen, dated 1880, depicts Karel van Egmond carried through the streets of Nijmegen by the Lord of Broekhuizen, 1473.
