About this work
This engraved print shows a group of medieval figures gathered on a path beside a wooden bridge, with clergy in long robes on one side and armed men on the other. Tall trees frame the scene while a white horse and a covered carriage stand at the left, and a dog watches in the foreground. The work is by Charles Rochussen, dated 1880, and depicts the meeting of Count Reinald II with the Bishop of Münster at the Black Bridge in spring 1326.
