About this work
A lithographic portrait shows a young man in a light, double-breasted military uniform with a star-shaped order on the chest, one hand resting on an ornate sword hilt and a plumed helmet at his side. The print is dated 1850 and attributed to Josef Kriehuber, and the sitter is named in the printed caption as Ferdinand Max, Erzherzog von Österreich. A handwritten dedication and signature appear on the mount below the image.
