About this work

This 1833 lithograph by Josef Kriehuber shows a man in a military uniform with a high embroidered collar, a row of buttons, and several medals pinned to his chest, wrapped in a dark cloak. The shaded background and soft tonal modelling focus attention on the sitter's face and upright pose. The caption below identifies him as Generalmajor Vincenz Freiherr von Augustin.
