About this work
This etching shows a sphinx-like creature with a human head and a reclining nude woman draped across its back, set on a pedestal decorated with a carved frieze of intertwined forms. A large crescent-shaped element rises behind the figures. The print is credited to Félicien Rops, with an etched signature and an edition credit to A. Lemerre, and it is catalogued under the title Les Diaboliques: Le spinx.
