In 1862 Félicien Rops studied etching in Paris, and it soon became his main medium. He was born in Namur in Belgium and first drew caricatures for student magazines in Brussels. Later he made book illustrations for Baudelaire and Verlaine. By 1875 he was permanently estranged from his wife, and Paris was his home for the rest of his life. Today he's best known for prints and drawings for erotic and occult literature, but he also painted landscapes. Browse 355 works by Félicien Rops from 17 museums, free to download in HD.
