A hand-coloured print shows a mounted cavalry soldier in a red jacket with gold lacing and a tall fur shako, raising a curved sabre as his brown horse gallops across a sketched ground. The sheet is numbered No. 8 and carries the caption Lambeth Cavalry, with the imprint London, published 1 November 1798 at Ackermann's Gallery, 101 Strand. The work is credited to Thomas Rowlandson, whose name appears as the artist's signature on the sheet.
