About this work
A colored lithograph-style caricature titled Fortifs, published in the 1892 issue of La Caricature and attributed to Théophile Alexandre Steinlen. It shows two seated men in a grassy field before a line of low fortification buildings, with smoke rising behind them and a third figure lying in the grass at left. The printed caption beneath the image is a witty remark in French.
