About this work
A weathered stone tombstone carries a carved French inscription honouring the painter Hubert Robert, identified as a painter, councillor of the Academy of Painting, and honorary member of the Imperial Museum. The text gives his birth in Paris on 22 May 1733 and his death on 15 April 1808. The memorial is set against a light stone wall with a carved ornament along its top edge.
