About this work

A farrier in a green coat and white head covering grips a seated man's jaw and pulls a tooth with pliers while the patient grimaces and blood is visible at his mouth. A child in brown clothing is held on a stool beside them, and a glowing fireplace and horseshoes hang in the dim interior. Attributed to David Teniers the Younger, dated 1610.
