About this work

This triptych-style sketch shows a loosely brushed landscape with a standing nude figure in the centre and two seated women near a stream or brook. The surrounding trees and foliage are rendered in vibrant, feathery strokes of blue, green, and ochre. Magnus Enckell created this work in 1914 as a sketch for the composition Girls by the Brook in Nyland's nation.
