About this work
This etching shows a richly dressed nobleman in a plumed hat and lace collar seated on a rearing horse, holding a baton, against an open landscape with a distant town. The inscription below names Gaspar de Guzman, Conde de Olivares, Duque de Sanlucar, and credits Diego Velazquez's painting as the source, with the print drawn and engraved by Francisco Goya in 1778.
