About this work
A crowded outdoor scene in black and white shows cyclists riding in the foreground, including women in long skirts and hats, while a horse-drawn carriage and more riders and spectators fill the background. The lithographic style uses dense hatching and soft tonal shading to suggest motion and smoke. The print is titled Les cyclistes and is attributed to Théophile Alexandre Steinlen.
