About this work
Two children sit closely together on a snowy bench against a log wall, the older boy in a dark coat and cap with his arm around the younger girl, who wears a brown fur-trimmed coat and head scarf and looks sorrowful. A lantern hangs above them, a wooden sled rests in the snow, and village houses and bare trees appear in the background.
