About this work
This hand-coloured print by Thomas Rowlandson, titled Plate 27 from World in Miniature, shows a village street with a brown horse, a stout man in a brown coat, women in blue and pink dresses, and a black carriage in the foreground. A sign on a half-timbered building advertises an ordinary on Sundays, and a dog and children play near the wheels. The sheet carries a publication imprint dated August 1, 1816, at R. Ackermann's, 101 Strand.
