About this work

This hand-colored etching shows a busy English town street with half-timbered houses, a church tower in the background, and a stone well at the right. A carriage and several riders on horseback move through the crowded road while market women gather by the well and donkeys carry baskets. The print is labeled Plate 24 from the series World in Miniature by Thomas Rowlandson and was published at R. Ackermann's in July 1816.
