About this work
A hand-colored etching titled A Brace of Brimstones by Thomas Rowlandson, dated 1806, shows two fashionably dressed women in feathered hats walking past a startled man in a red coat and yellow breeches beneath an arched passage. Signs for Booth's Best British Gin, Leake's Pills and Globe Insurance line the street wall, and figures drinking at a doorway are visible at left.
