About this work
A hand-colored satirical print showing a stout man in a brown coat clasping hands with a sailor in blue who holds a pipe, while a woman in a yellow skirt raises a glass labeled Holland's Gin. Behind them a tall sailing ship flies a pennant reading View of the Texel, and soldiers and a fleeing figure appear at the right. Thomas Rowlandson made this print in 1799.
