An oval painting presents a capriccio of crumbling classical architecture, with a row of Corinthian columns supporting a broken entablature on the right. Small figures are scattered among the ruins: a seated man in a red cloak, a woman in a blue bodice and yellow skirt gesturing toward the columns, and a man in a red cloak standing near fallen masonry beside a shallow pool.
