About this work
Two paired landscape paintings show a river valley beneath mountains and cloudy skies. The upper scene depicts a hunting party on horseback with hounds beside a winding river, with a hilltop town and a ruined building at the sides. The lower scene shows boaters and fishermen on a waterway, a church spire among trees, and a group of figures in the foreground, all attributed to Francesco Guardi.
