About this work
This painted capriccio shows a stone arched bridge spanning a calm lagoon, with a ruined brick tower on the right and small figures fishing and walking along the banks. A sailing boat and distant city towers appear beneath the arch under a broken, cloudy sky. The work is attributed to Francesco Guardi and dated 1770.
