This hand-coloured print by Thomas Rowlandson, dated 1787, shows the climax of a fox hunt beneath a large spreading tree. Hounds surround the fox while red-coated riders and a horn-blowing huntsman gather on horseback, and distant riders cross the open field at left. The title "The Death of the Fox" appears in the lower margin, identifying it as the third plate in the Fox-Hunting set of six.
