About this work
Félix Ziem's painting Bateaux shows a large sailing vessel with glowing yellow sails in the foreground, its reflection shimmering across calm blue-green water. Smaller white-sailed boats and a distant shoreline with more masts fill the background under a pale blue sky with soft clouds.
