Soon after his first exhibition in 1819, Victor Adam was hired to paint battle scenes for the Museum at Versailles. One of them, The Battle of Castiglione, is still at Versailles. Adam was born in Paris, the son of an engraver, and trained at the École des Beaux-Arts. He kept showing paintings until 1838 and then dropped out of public view. When he came back in 1846, it was with lithographs, and he worked in that medium from then on. Browse 127 works by Victor Adam from 6 museums, free to download in HD.
