Sebald Beham made engravings so small that many are no bigger than postage stamps. Born in Nuremberg, he was banished from the city in January 1525, accused of heresy and blasphemy. He left again in a hurry in 1528, after his book on the proportions of the horse was said to copy an unpublished manuscript by Dürer. From 1532 he lived mostly in Frankfurt, and he stayed there until he died. His monogram often leads people to call him Hans Sebald Beham, but there's no record that he ever used the name Hans.
