Pieter Bruegel the Elder seems to have preferred working with Pieter van der Heyden. Van der Heyden made 26 engravings after Bruegel's designs, more than any other printmaker. He wasn't an inventive engraver, but his technique was skilled and he stayed close to the design he copied. He also worked for the Antwerp publisher Hieronymus Cock, who brought out his set of the four seasons after Bruegel and Hans Bol in 1570. He was probably born in Antwerp, and he was last mentioned in March 1572. Browse 134 works by Pieter van der Heyden from 11 museums, free to download in HD. Source: Wikipedia
