In 1812 Pieter Bartholomeusz Barbiers drew the abbey ruins of Rijnsburg before they were demolished altogether.

Joannes Pieter Visser Bender later made an engraving of that drawing. Barbiers was baptised in Amsterdam on 23 January 1772, and he was the son of Bartholomeus Barbiers. He was known as a historical and landscape painter, and he married the painter Maria Geertruida Snabilie in Haarlem. He died in Haarlem on 10 September 1837. Browse 123 works by Pieter Bartholomeusz.
